Riding Club

The Ranch Horseback Riding Program provides a variety of options. The Ranch Riding Program stresses a solid foundation in safety, fundamentals of riding, and developing a confident rider.The Riding Program consists of basic lessons in horse care and riding skills in Western Riding. Ranch Instructors are certified by Camp Horsemanship Association a nation wide program to standardize riding programs and improve the quality of riding instruction. Riders may pursue the CHA certification program. Ranch facilities are settled in the rolling hills of Owego NY, which consist of nearly 300 acres of woodlands and fields, miles of trails, and are also equipped with indoor and outdoor arenas. Lessons at the Ranch offer instruction in Western Riding and Horsemanship from beginner though advanced riding levels.  Ranch Riding Programs are offered year round! Ages 8 through adults.

For over 55 years the  Ranch  horse's have been busy giving young people and adults in the Southern Tier a great time !

During the summer months we host hundreds of summer camp riders ' but now that September and school begins , we move into another phase of programing for those who have a desire to  ride horses well. 

Riding Lessons for Children ,Teens and Adults


Lesson at  the Ranch are conducted using a curriculum and instructor certification program of CHA – The Association for Horsemanship Safety and Education. 

The Ranch is concerned with providing excellence and safety in its riding programs and CHA is the National leader in  providing the programs and certification of both instructors and riders.

Level One: Includes basic riding skills and confidence simple control at a walk and trot, mounting, dismounting. Basic balance of rider, sitting trot , jog, and simple trail rides.

Level Two : This level is geared for the rider who can ride a gentle horse at the walk and trot and is ready to move onto greater knowledge and riding at faster gaits. It includes balance of horse and rider and introduction to loping.

Wrangler Classes: For Ranchers: Who have taken Ranch lessons and have passed Level Two CHA and will be 14 years old in 2012, and will be able to volunteer on weekend and potentially be on summer staff when 16 years old. Wranglers assist with chores, weekend classes, feeding , grooming, barn chores, lead trail-rides
